Prakash Khatri has a national Immigration Law practice, Khatri Law Firm, LLC (www.khatrilaw.com) located in Bethesda, MD. He has been practicing law for more than 25 years and at 22, is the youngest attorney to have been admitted to the Florida Bar. He is a nationally recognized expert on Immigration law, process and policy.
From July 2003 until March 2008, Mr. Khatri served as the United States’ first Ombudsman for Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), a senior leadership position in the newly formed Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Khatri provided guidance to policymakers in the Departments of Homeland Security, State, Labor and Justice, the Office of Management and Budget, and the White House on immigration-related matters. He also reported annually to Congress on problems within the U.S. immigration system and offered proposals to correct these deficiencies.
Before being appointed Ombudsman, Mr. Khatri managed the Immigration Compliance Department for Walt Disney World Co. in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. At Disney, he managed a team of professionals that provided technical immigration advice to the Walt Disney World Resort.
He was recognized as one of the “50 Most Influential Indian-Americans” by India Abroad in 2007.
